Rohacell XT

ROHACELL® XT is a rigid foam for aeronautic and aerospace applications. Of all ROHACELL® grades, it is the one best suited for the most demanding process conditions: It can take curing temperatures as high as 180°C and pressures as high as 0.45 MPa. After heat treatment, ROHACELL® XT-HT can even be used at temperatures of 190°C and a pressure of 0.7 MPa. Temperatures of up to 240°C are possible in a pressureless post-cure process, too. These extreme properties make ROHACELL® XT the ideal foam for use with BMI resins, among other materials.

ROHACELL® XT is suitable for autoclave technologies and vacuum infusion processes, not to mention RTM and VARTM processes.

Description

FOR THE MOST DEMANDING PROCESS CONDITIONS

ROHACELL® XT is a closed-cell rigid foam based on polymethacrylimide (PMI) chemistry that is completely free of CFC’s and is engineered to meet extreme and demanding processing requirements.

PROCESSING AND PRODUCTION

Of all the ROHACELL® grades, it is the grade that is best suited to withstand the most demanding process conditions: curing temperatures of up to 180 °C (356 °F) and pressures as high as 0.45 MPa (65 psi). After heat treatment, ROHACELL® XT-HT can even be used at temperatures of 190 °C (374 °F) and pressure of 0.7 MPa (102 psi) dependent upon density. Typical curing temperatures of BMI resin system of up to 210 °C (410 °F) can be applied in a pressureless post-cure process. These extreme properties make ROHACELL® XT the ideal foam for use with BMI resins, among other materials. ROHACELL® XT foam is suitable for autoclave technologies, vacuum infusion, RTM and VARTM processes.

THERMOFORMING AND SHAPING

ROHACELL® XT can be easily thermoformed or CNC machined to meet customer requirements, bringing tremendous manufacturing advantages. High precision, pre-shaped and ready-to-use foam cores in complex or simple geometries can also be supplied by the ROHACELL® Shapes Department.
